Sterilization is important when it comes to dental procedures. Everything should be sterilized, from the drilling device to the non-disposable mirror dentists use since all patients use it in some way or another. The LisaSafe is by far the most trusted machine used by most dentists in sterilizing their gadgets. It is actually more convenient than any other sterilizing devices since the dentist can attach a printer to it, and the LisaSafe will print only labels that were successful (if the sterilization process was a success). With this, patients need not worry about whether what the dentist stuck inside is or her mouth was totally clean or if it wasn’t switched with another unclean device.

A lot of devices have been invented in the name of dentistry. The inventors have been very particular about giving the patients comfort while scratching the idea about sacrificing safety. Today, oral gadgets are being created everyday and dentists are employing such new inventions to make their patients look and feel and at their best. Nobel Biocare’s Procera is one of the newest additions when it comes to dental technology. Since its arrival in the market, a lot of dentists have used it, giving their patients better fitting, more natural looking aesthetic restorations for both general and restorative dental procedures.

A person who will undergo dental restoration will have to go through a lot of pre-operation procedures including X-ray of the mouth to see the condition of the bone structure of the teeth to be extracted and replaced with an implant. Such X-rays are important for the reason that the operation per se is in fact dependent upon what the dentist will see upon the initial X-ray. What most dentists use today are those of 3D cone beam systems to ensure that they get the closest actual image of what they are going to operate. Some devices do have simple one-touch functions wherein the dentist can switch from 3D image and panoramic view with just a single touch.

There are special gadgets used for drilling screws in the gums of the patients that undergo implant procedures. These are specially designed tools that can help the person achieve that wondrous smile (for both aesthetic and functionality purposes). However, among the vast inventions of drilling tools, the Alto Surge is newest addition to the drilling family. It has a contra-angle for both implant and bone surgery that includes screwing, drilling and ridge polishing. The head can also be removed, making the gadget more hygienic than the other drilling tools. You also don’t have to worry about the risk of using this tool since it is easy to adjust and it has a pre-setting of how deep the dentist should drill.

If you have been planning on having dental restoration, then might as well consider the new Exacone. It looks actually more natural than the usual restoration tools such as ceramic teeth or veneers, and according to dentists, it is by far safer than the usual restoration materials used by dentists since it does not employ retaining screws to lock in the teeth to your gums. It uses a one of a kind self-locking Morse taper and it is designed to prevent rotation when placed on your gums. The specifics of this new dental restoration material make it more stable, and fewer complications from use are being reported.

If you have a cavity, depending on the graveness of the damage done by it, some dentists would require for an extraction while others would only result for dental fillings. However, those silver coatings that cover the hole in the teeth are said to be dangerous since it contains traces of mercury. The fact that it is placed inside the mouth, poses are greater threat since some of it might be ingested. There are a lot of people who are allergic to amalgam, but dentists won’t know this not until they have tried it on their patients. Last year, The Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks said that this kind of dental filling do have indirect health and environmental effects.

If you are looking for a tooth treatment that’ll last for decades, you might want to consider having dental restoration. There are a lot dental restorations available—from veneers to implants, these procedures can assure you that you’ll be aesthetically beautiful for years and not just something temporary like dentures. Dentures are surely the easiest and cheapest way of having synthetic teeth, but dentures are not that strong compared to other dental procedures, hence, you are constrained with the things you eat. Dental restoration usually lasts for 20 – 30 years, and the materials used are usually made of gold (casting or the cohesive type) or amalgams.

The nerve can also die as we grow old, which makes the teeth, as a whole become yellow. So how does bleaching come in? let me cite you the process before: “It was discovered about 100 years ago that these teeth could be lightened up substantially by temporarily sealing up a cotton pellet soaked with oxalic acid inside the access hole in the crown of the root canal treated tooth. The cotton pellet was removed after several days and the access was sealed with a filling. Hydrogen peroxide may have been used to lighten teeth as early as 1884. In 1917, the process was speeded up using hydrogen peroxide and a heat lamp.” This procedure is still done in some clinics in the world.

The nerve of the tooth is what keeps it alive. But in time, it will excrete extra proteins/nutrients to the dentin, which may make the already yellow layer, darker and will be noticeable to people because of your white-translucent enamel. So, as much as you can clean your enamel, it still is not enough given that it is translucent in a way, and the problem is really within. As you get older, it will be inevitable that your teeth will be noticeably yellower by the decade. And the most probable solution to this is to bleach it. Read on to the further articles

How can bleaching be effective? Let’s look first at the tooth in general. The tooth has 3 layers or parts. First is the Enamel, which is the external layer of the tooth, and what we see when a person smiles. The natural color is white and sometimes is translucent. The second layer is the Dentin, which is porous in structure and its normal color is yellow. This maybe a diagnosis to your teeth problem, but let’s look at the other layer: the center of your tooth and what makes it alive, the nerve. I will be discussing this in the next entry.
